Air India’s decision to clear Flight 182 for takeoff prior to the arrival of the dogmaster despite the identification of suspicious luggage, in part, due to cost‐related concerns (1.11).
The bombing of Air India Flight 182 on June 23, 1985, revealed major shortcomings in the country’s aviation security regime. Although Canada responded immediately and has since made numerous improvements to security, many defi ciencies exposed in the wake of the bombing remain unaddressed.
