1751 - The Views of Rome by Piranesi revives interest in Rome's classical ruins. 1762 - The Trevi Fountain is completed. 1792 - Pope Clement XIII tomb by Canova is completed. 1797 - Napoleon Bonaparte captures Rome. 1798 - New Roman Republic declared by Napoleon, Pope Pius VI exiled.
