26 Φεβ 2007 · I am getting a fault code on the Camshaft Position Sensor - Signal too high! I checked the actual timing and it shows timing at approx. 23 deg before tdc. 6 to 12 deg is correct. I had problems deciding which gap in the Exhaust Camshaft Sprocket to fit roller #1.
You just need an assistant to crank the car while you check timing. Not sure exactly what ignition timing during cranking on a Miata with a stock ECU is, but it should be around 5°-10° BTDC. For reference, my Miata has a standalone ECU in it and I programmed ignition timing during cranking to be at 7° BTDC.
