31 Ιαν 2014 · I am buying a F150, but I do not want a 3 valve engine. Are all the 2004-2008 4.6L engines 2 valves? If not, is there an easy way to tell which engines are 2 valve and which are 3 valve?
20 Μαρ 2018 · Sounds like the valve adjusters and lifters tapping. I took off the valve cover on drivers side, fired the engine up, and from what I can see, there is a lack of oil coming out of the valve adjusters and lifters. Heads are clean as a whistle - No sludge.
13 Μαρ 2021 · The Excursion, even though technically an F-series, was a 2-valve in 2005 before it stopped production. 3-valve engines are very easy to recognize. First, the valve covers are very different. In the next picture, the top valve cover is the right side of a 3-valve, the bottom is for a 2-valve.

7 Ιουλ 2010 · 2004 - 2008 Ford F150 - 4.6L V8; 2-valve vs. 3-valve - I'm a little confused about the differences in the 4.6L V8 when it comes to the number of valves. I have a 2007 F150 xlt with the 4.6, and I was wondering if there are 2 different 4.6 options for that model.
The 4.6 L (281 CID) V8 has been offered in 2-valve SOHC, 3-valve SOHC, and 4-valve DOHC versions. It has also been produced with both iron and aluminum blocks.
