Word of Wisdom Defined. “To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom. . .” ( 1 Corinthians 12:8 ). The King James Version says, “For to one is given, by the Spirit the word of wisdom.” Wisdom is good judgment based upon knowledge. The word of wisdom, then, is a word of good judgment based upon knowledge.
A word of knowledge is one of the nine gifts of the Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12:4–11: “For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit.”. Some people confuse a word of knowledge with a prophetic word or a word of wisdom.
