1. A madeira de acácia (ou de cetim) é a única madeira que aceita ouro quente por cima. Ela tem uma camada de resina. Em Êx 25.10-13, Moisés escreveu que a arca do concerto (ou da aliança) e os seus varais eram feitos de madeira de acácia e cobertos de ouro.
Na Bíblia, o simbolismo da madeira é dinâmico e muda consoante o contexto e o livro. A madeira no Génesis representa o pecado, enquanto no Êxodo está associada a milagres. No Novo Testamento, a madeira simboliza a salvação e a redenção através da Cruz de Cristo.
