I had an issue with AA/Qatar airways last month and just kept ending the chat. Both AA and QA just kept telling me to talk to the other. Finally found a rockstar that without prompting just reached out to QA and fixed it. Regarding wait times I always. Get in a physical airport line, start the chat, and get in the phone call “line”.

We need our government to impose more customer centric regulations on the airlines. Your case is very specific and could happen with anyone. I'm not sure if it could have helped with you, but I've started mainly using the chat function in the app to talk to customer service.
