2 Οκτ 2023 · Microsoft does send emails for authentication, but they should only come from "@accountsprotection.microsoft.com" or "@microsoft.com" email addresses. If the email you received is from a different email address, it is likely a scam.
25 Ιουλ 2023 · The “Two-Factor Verification” scam is a phishing email pretending to be from a legitimate service provider such as Google, Microsoft, or Dropbox. The subject line usually contains some variation of “Two Factor Verification” or “Extra Security Measure Required.”
What is two-step verification? Two-step verification (sometimes called multi-factor authentication) helps protect you by making it more difficult for someone else to sign in to your Microsoft account. It uses two different forms of identity: your password, and a contact method (also known as security info).
After the account.live.com page has opened, select Security & Privacy, go to More Security Settings, scroll down and select Set up two-step verification. You'll have the option to confirm your identity via email, phone or the Microsoft account App.
If you aren't sure about the source of an email, check the sender. You'll know it's legitimate if it's from the Microsoft account team at account-security-noreply@accountprotection.microsoft.com.
