Best area to stay on vacation in Dubai. I am going on vacation in 3 weeks with my wife and 2 young kids (2 and 4) for 5 days and was wondering what may be the ideal area to stay in Dubai. Downtown?
If you plan to spend a lot of time at the Dubai Mall/downtown area, stay closer. If you are going to be visiting a lot of different places all over Dubai, pick a central spot in your budget. If a view is important, that's one thing.
First stop is to see if you can get into Atlantis. Access to the biggest waterpark is free but the kids won’t be able to go on many things. You can also stay at Dubai Parks and Resorts. One hotel is Lapita and you’ll get tickets for Legoland water park (much more age appropriate for your kids) and other parks included.
Your kid will have to stay indoors from April to End of October. The weather is not suitable for outdoor play. Dubai is not a cycle friendly city, except for a few places.

Walkable doesn't really describe Dubai; your best bet is to stay near the metro if you want to get around without Uber. And even then you'll only be able to access things within 1-2 blocks of another metro station.
I would stay in the Marina. You can head to JBR and visit the beach earlier in the day before it is too hot. Very pleasant still. Then metro or careem (which is basically Uber) to Dubai Mall.
