20 Αυγ 2023 · One prevalent scam to watch out for is the “Facebook Account Recovery Code” phishing email. This deceptive email poses as an urgent notice from Facebook asking you to provide an account recovery code to secure your account from unauthorized access.
When you click the link in their post, you are taken to a fake Facebook login page where you unknowingly give your account credentials to scammers. These scammers then take over your account and hold it hostage, demanding money or spamming your Facebook contacts with inappropriate content.
Facebook will never ask you for your password in an email or send you a password as an attachment. Scammers sometimes create fake emails that look like they’re from Facebook. These emails often look like: Notifications about friend requests, messages, events, photos and videos.
You can report your account as compromised even if you can still log in, but are concerned that unauthorized people can also access it. If you can still log into your facebook account, you can try these steps to help secure your account: Reset your password.
