I suggest that you look at the moneysavingexpert website which reviews a wide range of travel insurance companies that suit specific needs. I have only made one claim from a travel insurance company - SAGA - which went well.
For an international flight, what is a good company to choose for travel insurance - trip interuption, cancellation due to cause, medical evac. etc. Even though the airline reps speak english, I am not able to understand them very well to call and ask.

"EU261 compensation rules apply" No. This was clearly outside of the responsibility of the airline. But the other EU261 rules still apply (other than the compensation). The flight was cancelled.
23 Σεπ 2023 · An insurance company will not pay for flight that went without you because you decided to stay in or a hotel booking you didn't turn up for. Covid cover insurance wise is for hospital stays when you're so ill you can't travel.
