21 Ιαν 2009 · If I needed to go faster than a 1:8" twist in a 6.5 mm barrel, I would use one for that. Bartlein will speed the twist up by 1" for a flat charge, but if you go over an inch of tighter twist then additional charges come into play. So far, I have stayed within that 1" of additional twist up.
15 Οκτ 2018 · Much talk about the effectiveness and accuracy of the 53 gr Vmax but still questions regarding appropriate twist. I'm thinking of getting a new barrel in 223AI. Plans are to go no tighter than needed on twist; I expect to shoot bullets exclusively between 40 and 55 grains.
23 Απρ 2022 · I also tried some of the 62-gr. Spire Point ammo from their Frontier line, a lead nose option that is loaded to 5.56 pressures to provide more energy on target and better penetration over the 55-gr. V-Max.
I shoot 50 grain MidSouth Shooter's Supply varmint Nightmare pills and 40 grain Sierra Game Kings out of 1:7 and 1:8 twist barrels. They shoot fine. Accuracy is appropriate...
28 Ιαν 2017 · If I were to shoot any bullets under 55 gr I'd go with the slower twist 1:12 barrel and take advantage of the speed. For 69 gr and up, go with the 1:8 twist. I have a .223 Bolt Action I built around 77 gr and heavier bullets.
