I am going on vacation in 3 weeks with my wife and 2 young kids (2 and 4) for 5 days and was wondering what may be the ideal area to stay in Dubai. Downtown? By Dubai mall? Jumeirah Beach? Elsewhere? I will be renting a car but don’t want to spend most of my time just driving around? This is our first time visiting so want to cover the basics:

Try to stay at JLT, Marina or JBR.. these places are super safe and lots of tourists stay in the hotels in these areas. You will find like minded people as well. Overall you will find Dubai very safe so don't worry!
Al Barsha is close to the Palm, and some malls, but it's 30 mins to Dubai Mall and essentially an hour to old Dubai (souks, museums etc.). A lot of the hotels on the Sheikh Zayed Road strip have limited local food options around them.
If you don’t care about the glitz and glamour, I recommend staying around Old Dubai, somewhere near the souks and the creek. It’s pretty pleasant, has some attractions and is more “authentic” then a lot of Dubai. It’s also quite cheap.
Best Location To Stay In Dubai? I'm planning a week long trip to Dubai with my friend, and we are looking to book in central location. A hotel with a nice view, close to metro etc. and where all the night life is.
We are planning our first trip to Dubai in couple of months with our toddler. We are looking to stay in an Airbnb. We see two concentrated areas - near palm/Dubai marina and downtown Dubai.
