7 Φεβ 2023 · Private education became legal in 2011 when the Government of Myanmar enacted the Private School Law and the education landscape regarding private education changed completely. Some institutions have been offering a complete curriculum, though many still focus only on a few subjects.
In 2019–2020, there were 730 registered national private schools, with a total enrollment of 179,182 students (MIMU 2021). Most of these schools are in Yangon and Mandalay, Myanmar’s two largest cities, catering mainly to wealthy families. The average annual school tuition fee at these schools is estimated at 800,000
17 Μαρ 2006 · Private education in Myanmar. In the immediate post-independence period from 1948 to 1962, private and state education were accepted in basic and higher education. During the socialist era between 1962 and 1988, however, private institutions were eliminated and the State dominated.
The present report has been prepared with reference to the National Education for All (EFA) Goals of the Myanmar EFA National Action Plan (2003-2015). This is the first national report on EFA after the publication of the Myanmar EFA Mid-Decade Assessment Report in August 2007.
