The Savannah Historic District is a large urban U.S. historic district that roughly corresponds to the pre–Civil War city limits of Savannah, Georgia. The area was declared a National Historic Landmark District in 1966, [1] [3] and is one of the largest urban, community-wide historic preservation districts in the United States. [4]

The Savannah Historic District sits in the center of one of the South’s most important cities. The Savannah Historic District encompasses the original town plan laid out in 1733 by Gen. James E. Oglethorpe, founder of the British colony of Georgia.
The Savannah Historic District has many beautifully restored homes, twenty-two lovely squares and the most beautiful live oak trees throughout the area. One may enjoy strolling through the area admiring the magnificent homes, architecture, iron work, and doorways. Each square is unique and beautiful as well.
