How to Defeat a Talus. The Stone Talus are slow moving, but hit hard. On their backs is a dark stone, which is their weak point. Running around the Stone Talus can be effective, since it moves so...
It's a bit wasteful of arrows, but can be more efficient if you use multishot bows (at this close range all arrows would hit from 3x-5x bows), and you only need to do this about 2-3x. Or find taluses which have the ore on the top of their heads so you can go ham with melee weapons instead :)
Stone Talus - The basic form of a Talus. Drops basic gems like flint , amber , opal , or Ruby - use bomb arrows or scale it from behind and attack the ore with a two-handed weapon
The 5 types are Stone Talus, Luminous Talus, Rare Talus, Igneo Talus, and Frost Talus. In order of difficulty, and thus better loot, it goes Stone Talus < Luminous Talus < Igneo Talus = Frost Talus < Rare Talus.
My usual approach is to climb the Talus' back, drop directly on top of the gem weak point and whale away at it. Sometimes Link slips off but then I just climb up again. Spears are also handy for reaching the weak point while you're still on the Talus' back...uh top?
6 Μαρ 2023 · Master Mode in Breath of the Wild is kind enough to drop a Lynel in the plains just below the destroyed Temple of Time, but the standard mode also has a Stone Talus near Hopper Pond, just to the left of the entrance to the shrine of resurrection.
Keep in mind you can pick up and place these barrels around the area where the Stone Talus will wake. Use bombs to destroy its rock arms, then climb on and bash the black ore on its back.
