Answer: There are 3 quarters, 6 dimes, 2 nickels, and 2 pennies. This is 75 + 60 + 10 + 2 = 147 cents = 1 dollar and 47 cents = $1.47. When you add bills together you do it in dollars. Adding bills is pretty easy. A good way to add bills is to add the larger bills first, then the smaller ones. You can count them out this way.
As 10 cents form a dime, and 1 nickel equals 5 cents, we can say that 2 nickels make up a dime. Thus, you can convert nickels and dimes using the formula: 2 nickels = 1 dime
