24 Ιαν 2003 · A standard liquor bottle shall be one so made and formed, and so filled, as not to mislead the purchaser. An individual carton or other container of a bottle shall not be so designed as to mislead purchasers as to the size of the bottles.
In California I've been told by a fellow tender that bars aren't allowed to use the 1.75 L bottles. That doesn't answer the question of why such a law would be on the books but it's one reason (assuming it's true, this could be BS).
