Comprehension strategy instruction helps students become purposeful, active readers who are in control of their own reading comprehension. These seven strategies have research-based evidence for improving text comprehension.

Model and teach the strategy: Introduce summarising: It is possible to use a scene or segment from a popular movie or a written text as stimulus. Tell students that you are going to show them several written summaries of the scene or text read and that you want them to pick the best summary.
1 Ιουν 2017 · Based on the three theoretical models presented above, it is reasonable to expect that teaching writing improves reading skills (shared knowledge model), writing about reading enhances students’ comprehension of text (functional model), and increasing how much students’ write improves their reading (rhetorical relations model).
