I have a 16 bit legacy app that I have been able to get working on Windows 10 32 bit by enabling the NTVDM feature, and legacy console in CMD properties. I need ideas on how to get this to run seamlessly on Windows 64 bit.
If you read this in 2022, i'm not sure it works for all but i tried with a game, baldur's game that have a 16 bits installer. You must run windows 10 (64bits) in safe mode to install the application. It works even if you don't have NTVDM (that doesn't exist for the 64 bits edition).
25 Αυγ 2015 · 16 bit Windows programs do not run on x64 Windows since like Windows XP 64 bit. Apparently this is due to performance impacts required to support the 16 bit subsystem. Interestingly, the same program will usually run on Windows 10 32 bit.
27 Ιουλ 2016 · The only possible ways to run 16 bit in 64 is by using an emulator or by running a virtual machine in Hyper-v. You could run a 32 bit win xp VM and run the apps in it.
