A well-preserved 1943 steel penny in uncirculated condition could be worth several dollars to collectors. If the coin is in circulated condition, its value will be lower, typically ranging from a few cents to a dollar or so.
1. 1943 Steel Penny (No Mintmark) Value. As per NGC price guides, the 1943 Steel Pennies are worth $0.05 – $0.40 in circulated conditions. About Uncirculated coins (AU50 – AU58) are worth $1 – $8. An MS60-graded coin is worth $1 while the highest grade, MS68, is worth $3,200-$35,000.
The 1943 Steel Penny Value. The 1943 steel penny has consistent values across its Philadelphia (no mint mark), Denver (“D” mint mark), and San Francisco (“S” mint mark) versions. Their values are low for all grades except the mid-to-high Mint-State grades.
20 Comments. The 1943 Penny was a Wheat Cent, named for the design on its tails side. Also, technically, all 1943 Pennies were meant to be Steel Cents aka Steelies. But because it was a transition year, some varieties were coined in bronze, and this drastically raised their prices!
26 Μαρ 2024 · In their fine class, it will earn you 0.50 USD; in their excellent state, the coin sells for 0.68 USD. 1943 “D” steel penny sells for around 2.68 in their best class. They have a better value than the 1943 steel pennies without mint marks. It’s because the Denver mint made them in lesser numbers.
