Today we'll learn how to move your open chords all over the guitar neck! It's a very cool trick that adds another level of creativity to your playing. You'll be able to take the same easy, open chords that you've learned as a beginner and move them all up the fretboard.
8 Σεπ 2023 · Begin with Example 1, which shows a trio of major triads on the top three strings. Study these shapes and their positions. It helps to be aware of which chord tone is on the first string; for example, on the D chord, that note is F#, or the major third.
A simple way to approach playing up the neck is to find the notes of a C major triad (C E G) all over the fretboard. Once you have a map of the fretboard from the open strings to the 15th fret, as shown in Example 1, you will be free to travel wherever you like.

These two vids are rawer and there are some wrong notes here and there because I’m just experimenting to learn what works and having fun.

8 Μαρ 2022 · This is a simple two-chord progression based on C and Am chords. The C chord is in bars 1 and 2, but notice that it runs through all five CAGED shapes. We’ve done the same with Am in bars 3 and 4. Try creating your own parts by moving the CAGED shapes up and down the fretboard to access other keys.
