Gear Inches are used to give a numerical value to how a particular chainwheel/cog combination will feel. Classic BMX gearing evolved over the years to be 44/16, which has approximately 55 gear inches. The most popular gear ratios are pretty close to a 55 inch, which just seems to feel best for most people.
4 Αυγ 2017 · Re: Gear ratio chart for 29 big bmx. Here's one: 55 gear inches is the norm for BMX, but with those big wheels, you might try 52 or 50 gear inches if you want snappy acceleration.
10 Σεπ 2016 · Picking ideal gear (ratio) for a 29" Cruiser. I might want to change the gear ratio on my High C as it feels more like driving in 3rd gear on a 3-gear bike. So I calculated my gear ratio, it's higher than a Big Ripper. A Big Ripper has 64.24 inch gear ratio, my 2020 High C has 66.92 (distance the bike makes with one full pedal rotation)
