The .30 RAR’s enhanced performance is achieved, despite the .30-30-size case capacity, by being loaded to a much higher pressure (55,000 psi MAP).
Hodgdon’s load data – the only currently available data for the .30 Remington AR, lists these powders: H-4198, IMR-4198, H-335, H-322, Benchmark and IMR-8208 XBR. This is a fairly narrow burn rate band of powders when compared to a cartridge like the .257 Roberts, which will work with everything as fast as H-4895 to as slow as Ramshot Magnum.
With lightweight .30-caliber bullets like the Sierra 110-grain Varminter and the Barnes110-grain TSX, the cartridge offers plenty of versatility with very comfortable recoil. The .30 Remington AR was specifically designed by Remington to work in its R-15 rifle.
