Used as teaching material, this model depicts the muscles, cartilages and ligaments of the larynx. This was modelled utlising CT data, imported via Invesalius 3.1, and original sculpting in Pixologic ZBrush.

The larynx is an organ located in the airway, lying immediately below the pharynx and above the trachea. The larynx houses the vocal cords that are essential during phonation or sound production. Six sets of laryngeal muscles control three different sets of cartilage that anchor the vocal cords.
30 Οκτ 2023 · Cartilaginous framework and ligaments. The larynx is composed of three large unpaired cartilages (cricoid, thyroid, and epiglottis) and three paired smaller cartilages (arytenoid, corniculate, and cuneiform), making a total of nine individual cartilages.
The goal of this project is to develop a physical 3D laryngeal model, with moving laryngeal cartilage, bones, membranes, and muscle to demonstrate nerve and muscle action and interaction in the larynx for voice, airway, and swallowing demonstrations.
