Fifth metacarpal neck fractures treated with soft wrap/buddy taping compared to reduction and casting: results of a prospective, multicenter, randomized trial
The fifth metacarpal is the most frequently fractured bone in this category, and fractures in the first and fifth metacarpals are often associated with different clinical challenges. Non-border metacarpals are prone to diaphyseal fractures, while border metacarpals typically involve the base or neck [ 1 , 2 ].

Compare the treatment options available for 5th metacarpal fractures, including both conservative and surgical care.
Purpose To describe management trends of fifth metacarpal neck (5MCN) fractures within a large health care system. We aimed to define patient and surgeon factors associated with nonsurgical versus surgical treatment, as well as to identify factors associated with receiving care only in the emergency department (ED).

18 Μαρ 2016 · In conclusion, current evidence suggests that conservative treatment is the optimum treatment for the fifth metacarpal neck fractures because of reduced total complication rates. And TP with K-wires is the worst option with highly total complication rates.
