10 Ιουλ 2020 · Barrel life depends on interactions between several factors and is therefore difficult to make half-way accurate guesstimates. Factors are: Powder charge to calibre (bore area) ratio - the bigger the powder charge (= energy) fed down the smaller hole, the faster the wear.

21 Δεκ 2007 · My best guess is that 2500 rounds is a very conservative life expectancy; and that this will vary with load specs. I tend to stay a fair bit below max. There is absolutely no utterly compelling need to use the more modern pressures.
23 Ιουν 2020 · A barrel’s life expectancy is caliber dependant, and may range anywhere from 1000 rounds to 6000 rounds or more. While barrel life many not be financially concerning for many shooters around the world, it is still good to understand roughly how long your barrel may last until precision starts to decline.
From a 26" barrel, typical recorded velocities for the AI are 3100fps with 120 grain bullets and 2900fps with 140 grain bullets. These velocities are pushing pressure limits and realistically, those who want more power should start with a larger case or both a larger case and wider caliber.
11 Ιουλ 2024 · 6.5×55 vs 6.5 Creedmoor: Barrel Life. This is always guesswork, and probably the best estimate is 2,000 to 3,000 rounds of first-class accuracy for both cartridges.
21 Δεκ 2021 · A 6.5x55 mm Swedish-chambered Sauer 404 can cover a range of shooting requirements, but the gun can also be converted to other cartridges by switching out the barrel and bolt head.
Barrel life and Consistency: Since most two-day matches have a round count in the neighborhood of 200, I needed something that wouldn't erode the throat of the barrel so fast I would be falling out of my accurate jump node by the end of day 2.
