23 Ιουν 2020 · In order to determine the accurate barrel life of a rifle, we can use a barrel life calculator. The most widely used barrel life calculator on the web today is known as Mike’s Spreadsheet , which uses five variables to provide a good accurate barrel life estimation.
10 Ιουλ 2020 · Barrel life depends on interactions between several factors and is therefore difficult to make half-way accurate guesstimates. Factors are: Powder charge to calibre (bore area) ratio - the bigger the powder charge (= energy) fed down the smaller hole, the faster the wear.
Furthermore, it is quite possible to drive 120 grain bullets at 3000fps and the 140 grain bullet weight at 2800fps from 24” barrels with long case life, using either of the above powders and careful load development. There are a vast range of projectiles for the 6.5mm fan to choose from.
21 Δεκ 2007 · I would rate the 6.5x55's bore/throat life, at modern loading levels, as very similar to .260 Rem numbers. My best guess is that 2500 rounds is a very conservative life expectancy; and that this will vary with load specs. I tend to stay a fair bit below max. There is absolutely no utterly compelling need to use the more modern pressures.

21 Οκτ 2008 · Mike’s program predicts barrel life using five variables: 1) Bullet Diameter; 2) Powder Charge weight; 3) Powder Heat Potential (KJ/kg); 4) Pressure (in psi); and 5) Bullet Coating (yes/no). Mike provides a table with Heat Potential ratings for most popular powder types.
