If the brand of rifle you prefer is not offered in .260, but is available in 6.5mm Creedmoor, it is almost as good. If a 1/2 inch longer receiver does not intimidate you, the 6.5x55 remains the world standard among 6.5mm cartridges and it is the obvious choice as an all-around cartridge.
Due to their high killing power and relatively low recoil, the standard 6.5mm cartridges are particularly well suited for the popular lightweight hunting rifles called "mountain" or "scout" rifles.
1 Μαΐ 2018 · The attraction of the 6.5×55 is it's mild recoil and superb down-range performance. Ample bullet selection — 90 to 160 grain — gives the cartridge plenty of versatility and makes it a gem for reloaders. A higher sectional density gives the 6.5 better penetration than other caliber bullets of a similar weight.
The .260 Remington, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 6.5×55 Swede are all most common in bolt-action rifles. However, the .260 Remington and 6.5 Creedmoor are also available in some semi-automatic sporting rifles (the AR-10 platform in particular) as well.
9 Ιαν 2009 · If you read the articles that JAYB pointed out and others by Chuck Hawks you'll see that the great African hunter Bell used to drop Elephants with great regularity with the 6.5, excellent sectional density being one of the biggest over rideing factors of this calibres performance!
