3 Ιαν 2010 · 1966 Mustang rearend ratio. From factory they came with a 3.00, 3.25 or a 3.50. To be sure after 44 years, have to count wheel revs vs the driveshaft. It's most likely a 3.00, most were. Check the door tag and if it has a 1 under where is says axle then it's a 3.00.
7 Σεπ 2005 · My son and I converted his '66 from a C4 to a 4 speed and left the 2.80 rear end in for financial reasons. Now I think it might be glazing my clutch disc and a big cause of chatter. What rear end ratio would you recommend for his Mustang considering gas cost?
The 289 Windsor V8. This is Ford’s V8 90 degree overhead valve engine that everyone wanted in the first few Mustang years. It was dependable, economical to maintain, had adequate power and was easily modified. In 1965 through 1966, you could get the 289 in either a 2 barrel or four barrel version.
Re: 66 289 With. C4 Auto Best Rear End Ratio? According to Mustang Steves FAQ section on rear ratio selection you need at least a 9:1 torque multiplication ratio for a good street performer and perhaps should take this into consideration as well as highway driving.

26 Μαΐ 2009 · Axle shafts are approx 30" in length & 25&3/4" in length. Axle shafts will fit 62 to 65 Fairlane, 64 to 65 Comet, 64 to 65 Falcon, 62 to 63 Meteor, & 65 Mustang. If anyone can find out that would be cool, would save me trying to measure up a broken axle. I have tried though, not trying to be lazy.
