  2. Hitting an underground utility line while digging can cause serious injuries, disrupt service to entire neighborhoods, and result in fines and repair costs. To comply with Iowa's One Call law, a homeowner or excavator must go online to IowaOneCall.com or call 811 or 800-292-8989 to schedule underground utility lines to be located and marked.

  3. When you have a project that requires digging, your first step is to contact Iowa One Call. You can do this by calling 811 or 1-800-292-8989. You can also file your locate requests online by clicking on the “Submit a Ticket” button above.

  4. Iowa One Call notifications for planned excavations are accepted only through the Iowa One Call Notification Center website at www.iowaonecall.com, or by phone at 811. Excavation notifications are not accepted through the Attorney General's website.
