27 Μαρ 2023 · Running the engine low on oil and “money shifting” a manual transmission (catastrophic over-rev due to downshifting) seem to be more common culprits for engine failure. RTV seems to be something engineers anticipated and accounted for. (It was a problem in the first generation BRZ/FR-S/86, too.)

Coming from a more “regular” car I will tell you to expect a lot more road noise, engine noise, and a harsher ride. If you really like driving and feeling connected to the road, it is hard to beat the value of 86.
The engine in the GR86/BRZ/86/FR-S has been proven to be very reliable under normal conditions. There will always be some engine failures for any model of car.
