A Metro ExpressLanes FasTrak account allows you to declare the number of people in the vehicle enabling HOV/carpools discounts and toll-free trips on the I-10 and I-110 Metro ExpressLanes. Prior to starting your trip, indicate the number of persons in your vehicle by moving the switch on the FasTrak Flex to the appropriate setting (1, 2, 3+).
Metro ExpressLanes will begin testing the system along the I-10 and I-110 ExpressLanes. This new system will determine the number of persons in a vehicle and compare it to the switch setting on the transponder, allowing Metro to charge the proper tolls for ExpressLanes trips.

Reduces the cost for drivers without FasTrak. In June 2023, the Metro Board authorized making the Pay-As-You-Go program permanent. Under this program, the cost of using the ExpressLanes without a valid FasTrak account/transponder has been reduced to $8 plus the posted toll rate.
Any FasTrak transponder can be used on any California toll road or bridge. Most agencies also have a minimum charge each month or some form of monthly fee. The 91 Express Lanes, for example, has a no-fee account for motorcycles and HOV-3 vehicles.
