Metro ExpressLanes will begin testing the system along the I-10 and I-110 ExpressLanes. This new system will determine the number of persons in a vehicle and compare it to the switch setting on the transponder, allowing Metro to charge the proper tolls for ExpressLanes trips.
The 91 Express Lanes is a four-lane, 18-mile toll road built in the median of State Route (SR)-91 between the SR-55/SR-91 interchange and the SR-91/Interstate (I)-15 interchange. Customers may drive the entire length or enter or exit at the county line near Green River Road.
ON THE I-10 FREEWAY: Vehicles with three or more occupants will be able to use Metro ExpressLanes toll-free at all hours. Vehicles with two occupants pay a toll during peak hours (5am-9am; 4pm-7pm) but will have toll-free access during off-peak hours.

Caltrans and Metro are evaluating alternatives to convert existing high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to dynamically priced, high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes, also called ExpressLanes, or add a second HOV lane in both directions on Interstate 10 (I-10) from the current ExpressLanes end point at I-605 to the Los Angeles/San Bernardino County line.
If you travel the 91 Express Lanes from end-to-end and the 15 Express Lanes, you will pay three tolls. The tolls will be displayed on three toll rate signs: the Orange County sign, the Riverside County sign and the 15 Express Lanes sign.
