The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is an American labor union representing over 750,000 employees of the federal government, about 5,000 employees of the District of Columbia, and a few hundred private sector employees, mostly in and around federal facilities.

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal union representing 670,000 federal government employees. Our members are the doctors, Border Patrol agents, scientists, correctional officers, nurses, and food inspectors who keep America healthy and safe.
By joining AFGE, federal employees working in Europe will be able to lobby lawmakers and mobilize at the worksite to improve working conditions in Europe. Dues-paying members also will have access to AFGE assistance in filing statutory appeals of retaliation or discrimination in the workplace.
