8 Σεπ 2006 · In order to adhere to BATF regulations I decided to purchase a USA piston and install it on the AMD 65. First there is a big difference between the AMD 65 and other AK 47's. The barrel length is only 12.5" which effects many other parts of the gun and legalities. The piston is shorter.

7 Αυγ 2021 · AMD-65. Hungary's Paratrooper and Armored troopers rifle. Barrel length of just 14.88". Overall length of 33.34" stock extended. 7.62x39 caliber. Known for their unique muzzle brake and folding wire stock. But on a @childersguns receiver. Original parts kit with original barrel.
These are barrels made in our shop from rifled 4150 blanks. They are stamped 7.62 U.S.A. unlike any other US made barrel. This is the original length for the AMD-65 so to build a rifle you will need to extend the barrel to 16" to be legal. For a pistol you will not need the extension.

The AMD-65 (Hungarian: Automata Módosított Deszantfegyver 1965; Automatic Modified Paratrooper Weapon 1965) is a Hungarian-manufactured licensed variant of the selective fire AKM rifle for use by the armored infantry and paratrooper ("descent") units within the Hungarian Defence Forces.
These are made to bring Hungarian AMD 65 rifles to the legal 16" length and not require pin or welding an extension. The chamber end of the barrels measure .9075" to .908". This item is made in the United States and counts as a 922r compliant part.
