To make Corporal, Specialists must complete Basic Leader Course (BLC) and be recommended for advancement by a promotion board.

SGT Promotion Requirements: Primary Zone — Board appearance at 34 months TIS and six months TIG as an E-4. Earliest Promotion can occur is at 36 months TIS with at least eight months TIG. Requirements for Secondary Zone — Board Appearance at 16 months TIS and four months TIG.
