I finished AC 3 remastered using a xbox compatible controller and the buttons were mapped perfectly. Just plugged and played. You can try remapping using a program called x360ce.

I made a shortcut straight to x360ce with the profile loaded into it. I also have it in my AC2 directory with the profile for that game loaded when I play. It’s just easier. You have to run x360ce before the game every time. After that, the controls are the same as on my Xbox.

Head over to http://www.x360ce.com/ and download the latest version for 32-bit games, extract it and place the "x360ce" file in your Assassin's Creed/Assassin's Creed II install directory. \steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed.
I once installed a bit of software to emulate a Xbox controller with my phone via Wi-Fi. It didn't work out that well, so I uninstalled it, forgetting to set the control options in AC3 back to Mouse and KB.
1 Φεβ 2011 · You can use your Logitech controller by having it emulate an XBox controller. Please refer this post. Basically you have to copy two files in to the game directory (the one where the .exe file is) and when you start the game, you should have all the controller options enabled.
