If you search on Steam (specifically in the “Guides” section of the community hub) you should find a fix for this titled “Xbox Controller Fix”. I replayed all of the games recently and I needed to find fixes for various things.
You need to start the game, choose profile, options -> customize controls. Then choose Controller (XBOX 360 for windows). Also try this in steam: View -> Big picture mode -> Settings -> Controller settings -> XBOX configuration support. Ignore this. Disable steam input support for the game by right clicking > Steam Input Forced Off.

Head over to http://www.x360ce.com/ and download the latest version for 32-bit games, extract it and place the "x360ce" file in your Assassin's Creed/Assassin's Creed II install directory. \steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed.

9 Οκτ 2022 · The main fix involves downloading files "x360ce.ini" and "xinput1_3.dll" and put them in the games file. I have done so and now my controller does not work at all with the game. Another post suggested that additionally older drivers for the controller is necessary for it to work but I can not figure out how to switch to older drivers.
Wireless Xbox 360 fix for Assassin's Creed I and II. Should work the same for Series X controller. Also update controller firmware with xbox accessories app if you haven't already.
19 Δεκ 2017 · I'm trying to get my Xbox One controller running in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, since natively it only works fine in SP, but has some problems on MP (some buttons switched, LB+RB not working).
