Hey all, I'm a first year teacher in Texas and was looking for unions in Texas to join. The ones I've found are Texas AFT, TSTA, TCTA, and ATPE. Are there any Texas teachers that can recommend one for me.

So far ATPE has been good. They're a lot cheaper than the other options available to us. Are you a new teacher or a student teacher? I believe NEA offers one free year. I don't know those, but I really like TCTA so far. Why? They responded promptly when I had a legal question.
Texas Teachers: What professional organization is the best? I want to join one this year. I wish we had a real union here. AFT or NEA, depending on who is most active in your district. The others allow administrators to be members, which can lead to a conflict of interest should you need representation. Personally, it doesn't matter to me.
