Discussion. Have a 2017 Q5 2.0T (97k miles) , check engine light came on and dealership said it’s a $3k timing chain replacement issue. I know this repair is a common one with Audi, especially at this mileage. I took it to an independent place and they quoted me $2500-3000.
Replaced the timing chain at around 170,000mi for roughly $4k (USD, California) parts + labor. From my understanding, an extended warranty isn’t worth it but can’t put a price on piece of mind

22 Αυγ 2017 · Has anyone done their timing chain service? Was just told by my mechanic around 100k miles I should look into doing this service. Parts alone are $4,200 from what I have seen. I have a 2010 Audi S5 with 84k miles currently. Any feedback will help please. Thank you.
