This is a list of countries by alcohol consumption measured in equivalent litres of pure alcohol (ethanol) consumed per capita per year. A standard drink is about 17 milliliters of ethanol, putting one liter at about 59 drinks.
Latvia leads the world in per capita alcohol consumption at 13.19L, followed closely by Moldova (12.85L), Germany (12.79L), and Lithuania (12.78L). In comparison to these countries, the United States ranks lower, with a per capita alcohol consumption of 9.97L.
The consumption of alcohol in each country varies greatly and is affected by each country's laws, culture, and other characteristics. The World Health Organization recorded each country's alcohol consumption in liters of pure alcohol for all beer, wine, spirits, and other alcoholic drinks.
This interactive map shows the annual average alcohol consumption of alcohol, expressed per person aged 15 years or older. To account for the differences in alcohol content of different alcoholic drinks (e.g., beer, wine, spirits), this is reported in liters of pure alcohol per year.

The total alcohol per capita consumption (APC) comprises both the recorded and the unrecorded APC, which together provide a more accurate estimate of the level of alcohol consumption in a country, and as a result, portray trends of alcohol consumption in the adult population (15 years of age and older) in a more precise way.
