19 Απρ 2024 · Avobenzone works by absorbing UV rays—particularly the UVA variety—to protect against the harmful effects of the sun. Avobenzone creates a defensive layer that soaks up the energy from whatever UV radiation you may be exposed to, then expels it before it can do any damage.
The potential issue with avobenzone and other chemical sunscreens being absorbed into the bloodstream is that it may disrupt hormones in the body. There is no current evidence to suggest this occurs with avobenzone.

It's often stabilized with other ingredients like Octocrylene. In fact, almost every single sunscreen formulation we reviewed in 2023 had Avobenzone combined with Octocrylene.
