The Bede BD-5 Micro is a series of small, single-seat homebuilt aircraft created in the late 1960s by US aircraft designer Jim Bede and introduced to the market primarily in kit form by the now-defunct Bede Aircraft Corporation in the early 1970s.

In 1973, Bede Aircraft introduced a jet-powered version the BD-5J. This aircraft still holds the record as the world’s smallest jet aircraft and is a popular air show performer. The BD-5J was made famous by its appearance in the James Bond film “Octopussy.”

The BD-5 however was another kettle of fish with its single seat, fighter jet inspired design, large Plexiglas canopy and pusher propeller. The BD-5 project was revisited in 1970 with a view to build a prototype by the year end.
The BD-5J is the jet version of the original BD-5 propeller aircraft. It holds the record as the smallest jet aircraft. The aircraft featured a Microturbo jet engine. This aircraft type was featured in the James Bond movie “Octopussy”. This aircraft was sold as a kit for an owner to build and fly.
