I'd recommend the Abdel Haleem translation, in my opinion it's probably the most accessible translation for an English speaker, it uses modern english and has an easy free flowing style while aiming to be as accurate as possible.
If you want simple, easy to understand language with little bias, MAS Abdul Haleem's is a good choice. If you prefer a translation that tries to emulate the poetic nature of the Quran in Arabic, AJ Arberry is an excellent choice - I've been reading this one myself.
