Sacred Gold/Storm Silver: Classic Drayano hack. Very difficult, but balances Johto a lot better than I've ever played it. Really enjoyable to play through but probably not good for a 1st nuzlocke. Renegade Platinum: Probably Drayano's best hack. Just a really, really, good game, with some VERY tough fights, but a huge variety of pokemon.
I’m looking for something that gives you access to a ton of Pokémon like sacred gold and renegade platinum, but not something on that difficulty. Pokémon Gaia, 100%. It has Gen 1-6 Pokémon, with around 10 different encounters per location. It's a bit harder than normal games, but not by loads.
If you play a game like Pokemon Platinum with built in levelcaps, the only difficult fights in the entire game are Crasher Wake and the e4. Exp management is such an important part of nuzlocking, it’s a skill that you have to learn. That does not mean I recommend your team to be below the levelcap.
