A skilling pet guide on the fastest methods to obtain the Rock Golem, the mining pet in Old School RuneScape.
The rock golem is a members-only skilling pet that can be obtained while training Mining. The chances of getting it are dependent on the player's Mining level, and the time it takes to gather a resource. When a player receives the pet, it will automatically try to appear as their follower.
Since the update in December that removed the random tick delay from various mining rocks, mining gem rocks is now always a 3-tick action, and a much better training method. With tick manipulation, you can get up to around 105k-115k xp/hr based on mining level.
Completing Doric's Quest, The Dig Site, Plague City, The Giant Dwarf, The Lost Tribe and Another Slice of H.A.M. grants a total of 27,525 Mining experience, which will get the player from level 1 to 37.
If you would put this into the skilling pet calc, you would get the result that its like 1/1700 chance of hunter pet from bgh at level 99, which equals ~84h on average. If you compare this to information we know, agility pet chance at 99 is like 1/5000 laps, which means in average ~83h.
If you had 99 mining already and you aren't going for 200m it's a waste of exp to mine 200,000 more things at MLM. While if you have 70, you can get levels and a pet at the same time. So that person who's actually no doubt a miner having 99 is demotivated to get the pet in that skill.
The optimal quest guide lists Old School RuneScape quests in an order that allows new Members to progress in a way that minimises the amount of skill training to completion of all the quests. This guide does not show the most efficient quest order.
