The key to removing this excess lint is to loosen it and break the static bond with the towel so that it can be removed. Though it will certainly go away over time, here are a few steps that can speed up the process.
Dry your towels on a warm heat setting in the dryer (removing any lint in the lint trap first) or dry them naturally in the sun. Drying your towels on hot can actually dry out your towel's fibres TOO much, leaving them parched and scratchy.
