Starting near the Sun, the camera steadily pulls back to compare ever-larger black holes to different structures in our solar system.
A supermassive black hole (SMBH) is an extremely large black hole, on the order of hundreds of thousands to billions of solar masses (M ☉), and is theorized to exist in the center of almost all massive galaxies.
As a quasar, TON 618 is believed to be the active galactic nucleus at the center of a galaxy, the engine of which is a supermassive black hole feeding on intensely hot gas and matter in an accretion disc. Given its observed redshift of 2.219, the light travel time of TON 618 is estimated to be approximately 10.8 billion years.
17 Ιουν 2019 · The biggest black hole I know of is at the center of the Galaxy IC1101 and it is 412 AU across ( not counting disc). Wondering if anyones found a black hole that's bigger than 412 AU.
