Internal iliac artery ligation (IIAL) has been used as a damage control procedure to treat hemodynamically unstable pelvic fracture for many years. However, there is ongoing debate regarding the effectiveness and safety of this hemostatic method.

The surgery was elective in non-bleeding patients and as an emergency in bleeding patients. The primary outcome is to minimize blood loss and postpartum blood transfusion.
